Kate Fleming  BSC (Hons) DipM, MCIM, CIPD


Kate provides advice and support to professional service firms on all aspects of marketing, sales and client management and has held a number of leadership roles in professional firms.


She helps fee earners and others involved in business development to win business. She also works with business managers and others in the firm who support BD, to develop their consultancy skills in order to contribute greater value to the business.


Each year, she works with >1000 directors, partners and others involved in BD. Kate has worked in the professional services sector for 18 years. She was Marketing Director for a top 100 law firm and then set up Ridley Fleming. This was a consultancy business specialising in helping law firms to be more successful at BD, principally through training and mentoring.


The business was sold to Huthwaite International and she was, until recently, a director in Huthwaite Legal. Kate had a client-facing role in HL including being part of the client team for RBS. She worked with firms to help them develop their sales and client management capability and improve their performance at winning business. She worked with clients to identify their needs, design solutions, project management and evaluation. She was also responsible for developing and managing the team of Huthwaite Legal trainers and consultants.


Huthwaite International undertook a research study into the changing role of procurement and strategies for dealing with this function. This was done in conjunction with Bradford School of Management and Kate was actively involved in the study.


Kate is a well-known public speaker and regularly presents at industry conferences on Business Development.


Kate also finds time to contribute challenging and informative articles and published papers on this and management development in professional firms. Kate has a degree from Bristol University, a diploma in marketing and a post graduate diploma in training and development.
